AIOU organizes Int’l symposium on Arabic Language Day

Islamabad, ( VOM ) A one-day International Symposium was held at Allama Iqbal Open University on World Arabic Language Day. Director, Media and Cultural Affairs, Saudi Embassy in Pakistan, Muhammad bin Saleh Al Muhammad was the chief guest. Prof. Dr. Hind Abdul Halim Mahfouz and Dr. Hina Abdul Fattah from Al-Azhar University, Egypt were among the foreign speakers. Dr. Inam ul Haque Ghazi from International Islamic University and Dr. Abdul Majeed Baghdadi, Chairman, Arabic Department AIOU were the national speakers. Dean, Faculty of Arabic, Prof. Dr. Shah Mohyuddin Hashmi presided over the symposium. This symposium was organized by the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, AIOU.
Dr. Abdul Majeed Baghdadi explained the aims and objectives of the symposium. He said that the United Nations included Arabic as an international language in December 1973, and December 18 has been celebrated as the International Day for Arabic Language since 2012. Professor Dr. Hind Abdul Halim Mahfouz, Dr. Hinna Abdul Fattah, and Dr. Inamul Haq Ghazi presented their research papers. Lebanese poet Jamal Ahmad Arafat presented a poem in Arabic on the theme of event. Muhammad Bin Saleh Al Muhammad reiterated to start joint program with the department of Arabic, AIOU. Prof. Dr. Shah Mohyuddin Hashmi congratulated the Arabic Department for holding a successful symposium. Highlighting the educational contribution of AIOU in Arabic and Islamic Studies, he said that we are trying to promote the Arabic language in the country.
