*PARLIAMENT COMMITTED TO RESOLVE CHALLENGES FACED BY PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES: NA SPEAKER*
Islamabad; Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser placed the first Braille copy of the 1973 Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the House today during Budget Session 2021-2022. He briefed the House about historic milestones achieved to make Parliament of Pakistan friendly for People with Disabilities (PWDs). He said that Parliament of Pakistan is the first Parliament in the region to convert its Constitution into Braille system besides making the official website of National Assembly of Pakistan accessible for visually impaired people. He also said that Parliament House has become the first building to complete disability audit for the first time in the history and making it accessible to PWDs.
Speaker Asad Qaiser remarked about importance of Parliamentary diplomacy to enhance regional prosperity and development. He informed the House that successful occurrence of 2nd General conference of Parliamentary Assembly of Economic Cooperation Organization (PAECO) indicated the success of incumbent Parliament to enhance parliamentary diplomacy. He said that National Assembly Secretariat successfully hosted this conference where ECO members unanimously denounced the brutalities on innocent kahsmires in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu Kashmir in “Islamabad Declaration”. The Speaker also informed the House that Islamabad was declared as Permanent Secretariat of PAECO and Member countries unanimously elected him as President of PAECO.
Spekaer Asad Qaiser informed the House that National Assembly Secretariat is planning to commemorate Platinum ceremony of establishment of the House on 10th August 2021 and sought suggestion from the Members in this regard. He also emphasized that this House is the representative of common people and both Treasury and Opposition benches have collective responsibility to maintain its integrity and decorum.
