RAWALPINDI: Prominent politician and President Pakistan Muslim League (Zia) Muhammad Ijaz-ul-Haq has said that social workers like Abdul Majeed Amjad are an asset of the entire society. Social workers are always alive. He said this while addressing as a special guest in online condolence reference in the memory of prominent social figure and intellectual Abdul Majeed Amjad under the auspices of Literary Organization Daira and National Coordinating Council in collaboration with Punjab Arts Council. He said that my entire family has been in touch with Abdul Majeed Amjad for fifty years. He was a very sincere, compassionate and God-fearing person. The reference was presided over by Dr. Ghazanfar Mehdi, Chairman, Daira. He said that Abdul Majeed Amjad was a true lover of the Prophet and an intellectual who loved the Ahle Bayt and the Companions. He spent his entire life in literary and social activities. Waqar Ahmed, Director, Punjab Arts Council, said that Abdul Majeed Amjad used to hold celebrations on the occasion of National Days. Renowned historian Prof. Dr. Riaz Ahmed said that Abdul Majeed Amjad’s mission was to make the young generation aware of the dangers of Tehreek-e-Pakistan. He said that due to the interest of intellectuals like Abdul Majeed Amjad, today Islamabad has become the largest literary and cultural center of the entire country. Naveed Amjad, the eldest son of Abdul Majeed Amjad and president of the National Coordinating Council, moved a resolution that the road passing by the old airport be named Shahra Abdul Majeed Amjad because of Abdul Majeed Amjad’s literary and social services.
