RDA’s anti-encroachment operation continues in the city.

RAWALPINDI: The Land Development and Estate Management (LD&EM) Directorate and Land Use and Building Control (LU&BC) Wing, Rawalpindi Development Authority’ s staff conducted operations against illegal / unauthorized constructed commercial buildings and sealed three shops in Ghazni Colony, Bagh Sardaran, three shops on City Saddar Road, and four shops on Chakri Road Rawalpindi.
Under the directions of Director General, Rawalpindi Development Authority, Capt. (R) Abdul Sattar Isani, the enforcement cell of RDA is continuing its anti-encroachment drive.
RDA is conducting operations against violations, illegal construction and land mafia in the city. Building Control Wing and LD&EM Directorate, RDA have been actively conducting operations against illegal / unauthorized commercial cum residential construction activities including plazas, shops, schools and other illegal land use encroachments within the controlled area of RDA in Rawalpindi.
LD&EM Directorate and LU&BC Wing’s staff with the assistance of Rawalpindi Police from the concerned police stations carried out operation. The owners of these properties had constructed illegal commercial buildings without approval / No Objection Certificates in violation of Punjab Development of Cities Act, 1976 and RDA Building and Zoning Regulations, 2020.
RDA spokesman said that the Director General, RDA Capt. (R) Abdul Sattar Isani has directed the RDA Directorates to take strict action against encroachments, illegal / unauthorized constructions and commercial activities without any fear and favour. He said that the general public should also show moral responsibility and remove every type of encroachment as much as they can, so that they could avoid any further loss.
He said that the owners of the properties have carried out development work in different areas illegally, without approval of lay out plan (LoP) from the authority. The general public has been advised in their own interest that they should not make any investment in the illegal / unauthorized area and for high rise buildings as the same are not approved and allowed by the authority. RDA suggests the citizens to consult the RDA before investing in such projects as the civic agency will not be responsible for their losses, he added.
