*Cricket celebrities join spring plantation campaign in Naya Nazimabad*
Karachi: Former skipper of the Pakistani cricket team and Captain of the Quetta Gladiators, Sarfraz Ahmed, has said that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has gone a long way in promoting cricket in the country and also provided the opportunity to the old players and talent to test their talent.
The former skipper of the Pakistani National Cricket Team stated this on the occasion of a spring tree plantation campaign jointly launched by the National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH) and Naya Nazimabad. Cricketer Anwar Ali was also present on the occasion.
Sarfraz Ahmed said on the occasion that the PSL had ushered Pakistan in a new cricketing era.
He informed audience of the ceremony that the leftover matches of the 6th edition of the PSL-2021 would be played in June.
He urged the sports celebrities especially the cricketers to actively take part in the spring plantation drive as they should plant saplings in their respective areas, parks, and playgrounds on a large scale and also take care of them.
He said that such efforts would increase green cover and would be helpful in lessening the harmful impacts of environmental pollution in the country.
Safaraz Ahmed and Anwar Ali both assured NFEH and Naya Nazimabad of their fullest support to carry out the plantation campaign in Karachi.
The spring plantation drive is being carried out to plant 5,000 tree saplings in Naya Nazimabad.
On the occasion, the two cricketers, representatives of NFEH and CSR Club Pakistan, also planted seedlings of vegetable and fruit trees.
Also present on the occasion were NFEH President Muhammad Naeem Qureshi, Nadeem Ashraf, Ruqiya Naeem, Mustafa Tahir, Anis Younus, Chief of Naya Nazimabad Project Samad Habib, Finance Director Muhammad Talha.
Commemorative shields were also given to the participants of the ceremony.
