Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice Javed Iqbal has said that NAB is the only institution in the world which has set a time limit of 10 months to bring white collar crimes to a logical conclusion.

Under its effective and comprehensive anti-corruption national strategy, NAB is committed to bring mega-corruption white-collar crimes to a logical conclusion by adhering to NAB’s faith-free Pakistan policy. According to the NAB statement, the NAB chairman said that the NAB has received twice as many complaints in 2019 as compared to 2018. According to YB’s annual 2019 report, NAB has received a total of 53643 complaints in 2019 out of which 42760 were processed while in 2018 48591 complaints were received out of which 4141 were disposed of. The NAB examined 1308 complaints in 2019. 1686 inquiries and 609 investigations were disposed of and Rs. 141.542 billion was recovered from corrupt elements while Rs. 46.069 billion has been collected and deposited in the national exchequer since 2000 which is a significant achievement. He said that NAB has set up a joint investigation team to take advantage of the collective wisdom of senior officers. The team consists of a director, an additional director, an investigation officer and a legal consultant. This has improved the performance of the NAB. With the NAB handling 1983 cases in 2019, the conviction rate is 68.8%. NAB has set up its forensic science laboratory in Rawalpindi.
