Ramadan Relief Package ends, 20% Subsidies on five basic food items will continue

Islamabad, June 15, 2020:
Due to the best strategy and timely measures taken by the management of the Utility Stores Corporation, the Ramadan Relief Package has been completed in a smooth and successful manner while the subsidy given by the Federal Government will continue. During the Ramadan relief package, the highest sales in the history of the Utility Stores Corporation was recorded which amounted to about Rs. 22 billion. During this package, the services of Utility Stores Corporation were extended to about 7.3 million households, which is .22% of the total households. These facts demonstrate the full confidence of consumers and the government in the Utility Stores Corporation. Subsidies will continue on 5 basic items instead of 19 items on utility stores. Remember, up to 20% discount is being given on flour, sugar, ghee, lentils and rice.
During the lockdown in March to prevent the spread of the corona virus and during the month of Ramadan, the workers of the Utility Stores Corporation played a leading role in providing essential items to the people at subsidized rates. ۔
The federal government expanded the scope of the relief package during Ramadan by announcing subsidies on 19 out of five basic items. The workers of the Utility Stores Corporation worked tirelessly to serve the people across the country and ensured the availability of affordable and quality food items in all areas during the entire month of Ramadan. In remote areas where utility stores were not available, delivery of food items was ensured through mobile utility stores.
At Utility Stores Corporation, sugar is sold at Rs 68 per kg, flour 20 kg bag at Rs 800, subsidized ghee at Rs 170 per kg, dal gram at Rs 130 per kg, lentils at Rs 130 per kg, white gram at Rs 115 per kg, while rice at Rs 139 per kg and basmati rice at Rs 140 per kg. Two ta rice will be available at Rs 76 per kg.
Apart from this, discounts will also be given on all other items available at utility stores such as top brand Banaspati Ghee at Rs 237 per kg, cooking oil at Rs 238 per liter, tea at 950 grams at Rs 940 per packet and soft drinks at Rs 78 per 1.5 liters.
